Cecil Spider opened his tiny notebook and smiled.
“Today,” he said, “I’m going to learn the alphabet!
One letter at a time…
one friend at a time!”

Basil swooped down from a tree.
“B is for Bat!”
Cecil giggled.

Jeff gave a gentle trumpet.
“E is for Elephant!” Cecil cheered.

Alana warmed herself on a sunny rock.
“I is for Iguana!”

Casper blended into a leaf and then peeked out.
“Perfect for C!”
Cecil wrote.

Fleur posed on one leg, feathers shimmering.
“F for Flamingo!”

Hugo splashed in the river.

“Q is for Quoll,” Cecil wrote carefully.

Victoria drifted in slow circles above.
“V is for Vulture!” wrote Cecil.

Xavier hopped along a branch, tiny and cheerful.
“X is tricky,” Cecil whispered, “but Xenops starts with X!”

Deborah trotted proudly, her stripes shining in the sun.
“Z is for Zebra!”

Gabbie splashed in the shallow water.
“Y is for Yabby!”
